Amazon Makes It Easier to Link Your Carrier Accounts to Amazon Buy Shipping

Link your carrier accounts to Amazon Buy Shipping to use your negotiated shipping rates with USPS, UPS Roadie, UPS Mail Innovations, OnTrac, and DHL eCommerce while still receiving Amazon Buy Shipping protections on eligible orders.

Shipping costs remain one of the biggest expenses for seller-fulfilled businesses, making every savings opportunity worth attention. Amazon’s latest fulfillment update gives merchants another way to control those costs while keeping orders inside Seller Central.

Sellers can now connect carrier accounts to Amazon Buy Shipping for several supported carriers and continue using their negotiated shipping rates. The change also adds access to Buy Shipping protections that can help reduce delivery-related risks.

Amazon Buy Shipping Update for Amazon Sellers

Amazon announced that it has expanded Amazon Buy Shipping by allowing self-fulfilled sellers to connect their own shipping carrier accounts for supported services. Sellers can now link carrier accounts to Amazon Buy Shipping for the following carriers:

  • USPS
  • UPS Roadie
  • UPS Mail Innovations
  • OnTrac
  • DHL eCommerce

After linking their Amazon carrier accounts, sellers can purchase shipping labels through Buy Shipping using their own carrier-negotiated rates. They also remain eligible for Amazon Buy Shipping protections, including on-time delivery rate protection and refunds for eligible delivery-related claims.

Amazon also confirmed that shipping labels purchased through Buy Shipping will continue to count toward the minimum shipped volume commitments sellers have with their carriers. Carrier charges will still come directly from the carrier instead of Amazon when labels are purchased through the service.

The update also supports multiple carrier accounts that can be assigned to different ship-from locations for added flexibility. Sellers can access Buy Shipping after linking their accounts through Manage Orders, the Shipping API, Veeqo, and other supported multi-channel integrators, making this an important update for any Amazon agency or merchant managing seller-fulfilled operations.

Buy Shipping Now Supports Sellers' Negotiated Carrier Rates

The update also changes how sellers can use their existing FedEx and UPS agreements without leaving Amazon Buy Shipping. According to ChannelMax, instead of relying only on Amazon’s standard shipping rates, sellers can apply the rates they have already negotiated directly with those carriers.

Benefit What It Means for Sellers
Negotiated carrier rates
Use existing FedEx and UPS contract rates when purchasing labels through Buy Shipping.
Claims protection
Continue receiving Buy Shipping protections that can help with eligible delivery-related claims and account health.
Multiple carrier accounts
Link more than one account for each carrier and assign them to different warehouse locations.
Flexible label purchasing
Purchase labels through Seller Central, the Shipping API, or supported multi-channel integrators.

The setup process follows four main steps and begins in Buy Shipping Preferences within Seller Central. Sellers select the carrier account they want to connect, provide the required account details, and submit the information so Amazon can retrieve shipping rates and generate labels.

The announcement also recommends keeping every Amazon carrier account active and reviewing negotiated rates periodically after linking. Sellers managing multiple warehouses are encouraged to assign carrier accounts strategically and use Amazon’s carrier management tools if troubleshooting is needed.

Amazon Shares More Details on Carrier Account Setup and Management

Amazon also published additional requirements sellers should review before linking an Amazon carrier account through Seller Central. The company advises confirming that ship-from contact details are current, the preferred carrier is prioritized in Buy Shipping preferences, and all required Buy Shipping and carrier terms have been accepted.

Amazon also notes that seller accounts can link only one account per carrier. Sellers using the Shipping API will follow the same carrier-linking process as those purchasing labels directly through Seller Central.

Amazon explained that linked carrier accounts can also be removed if needed through the Manage your Carrier Accounts page in Buy Shipping preferences. If the Unlink option is unavailable, sellers must contact Selling Partner Support and provide the details of the carrier account they want to remove.

The announcement also outlines carrier-specific setup requirements for Royal Mail, Evri, DPD Local, FedEx, and UPS before services become available in Amazon Buy Shipping. Depending on the carrier, sellers may need to complete authentication, provide account information, or wait for account activation before purchasing shipping labels.
