Amazon Sponsored Products video ads now let sellers opt in to auto-assembled videos using existing video assets, with no additional assembly fee and the option to review before launch.

The update gives sellers a new way to add video creative without starting from a blank production file. Amazon can identify eligible clips from videos already uploaded by the seller or appearing on the product detail page, then assemble them into a video for the advertised ASIN.

Amazon Sponsored Products video ads use the campaign’s existing budget and CPC bid, with an optional bid adjustment for video placements. Sellers can also review or edit the assembled creative before deciding whether to activate it.

Amazon Expands Sponsored Products Video Options for Sellers

Amazon has added an auto-assembled video option during campaign creation, giving sellers another way to use Amazon video ads without manually uploading a new video. The feature uses eligible clips from videos already uploaded by sellers or videos appearing on their product detail pages, with no new video content generated by AI.

For sellers running Amazon Sponsored Products video ads, auto-assembled videos are created at the ASIN level and can be generated within 72 hours after the feature is activated. Sellers can review, edit, pause, activate, or opt out of the videos before they serve, while videos must still receive approval and compete in the ad auction.

The feature uses the existing Sponsored Products campaign budget at the same CPC bid as standard ads, and Amazon does not charge an additional fee to assemble the video. Sellers can also apply a video bid adjustment during campaign creation, with bid increases applied on top of other placement adjustments for Amazon PPC video ads.

To activate the feature, sellers can open a campaign in the ads console, select Campaign settings, and check Auto-assembled video under the Sponsored Products video section. The videos then appear separately from manually uploaded videos under the Video tab in Manage Ads, giving sellers and an Amazon agency a direct way to review and manage creatives as part of Sponsored Products video optimization.

Sponsored Products Video Requires Careful Creative Preparation

Sellers should first confirm that the video option is available for the intended marketplace, campaign, ad group, and child ASIN before preparing creative, since the format is currently available in the US and not available for Books. For Amazon Sponsored Products video ads, each clip should answer one shopper question that motion can explain better than the main image or listing copy, such as how a product works, fits, feels, assembles, or performs.

According to Anata, creative requirements also place limits on how sellers should build each video, with clips needing to use the supported file formats and minimum length while focusing on one product feature. Amazon video ads do not support audio, so the product action must remain clear on mute, with Amazon’s guidance also advising against small captions, slideshows, letterboxing, misleading renders, and footage that depends on a fixed sequence.

Creative Requirement Source Detail
File format
MP4 or MOV
Minimum video length
7 seconds
Videos per product
Up to 5 product-feature videos
Primary feature
One unique product feature per clip
Audio
Not supported
Approval time
48 to 72 hours
Key rejection concerns
Low quality, poor relevance, guideline violations

Sellers should also maintain accurate ASIN and variation information throughout the creative process, particularly when colors, sizes, or configurations differ between products. Before enabling Amazon PPC campaigns with video, sellers should compare the creative against the detail page, confirm the correct variation, and review the product image, thumbnails, feature names, description, click destination, targeting, budget, and video bid adjustment.

Amazon also provides reporting that can help sellers assess delivery and performance without relying on generic benchmarks. Available video reporting can include impressions, clicks, click-through rate, orders, sales, return on ad spend, five-second views, and five-second view rate, while sellers should account for factors such as inventory, pricing, targeting, placement, reviews, seasonality, and competing campaigns when reviewing results.

Amazon Gives Sellers More Ways to Use Video in PPC

Nova Analytics reports that unlike Sponsored Brands Video, which uses a banner placement, Amazon Sponsored Products video ads put video creative directly into Sponsored Products placements alongside traditional product images. The source states that the video can appear as the first image in the carousel and autoplay without sound when shoppers hover or tap.

The format may be particularly useful for products that are difficult to explain through static images alone or where seeing the product in use can help shoppers understand its value. The source identifies complex products, before-and-after products, assembly-required products, lifestyle products, and items priced above $50 as categories that may benefit from video.

For Amazon video ads, the recommended creative approach is to show the product in action within the first three seconds, follow with two or three key features, and use the final five seconds for packaging, branding, or a value-focused message. Sellers should use readable text, multiple product angles, clear demonstrations, tight shots, natural lighting, and hands-on product footage while avoiding long introductions, slow pacing, tiny text, generic footage, and videos longer than 30 seconds.

Sellers can also test video against static creative by using the same budget and keywords while tracking CTR, CVR, and ACoS over two weeks. The source also recommends identifying up to five video-ready SKUs, with visual products and items that generate at least $10,000 in monthly revenue and have conversion rates above 12% presented as potential priorities, while simple videos can be created with a smartphone or sellers can hire outside creators.
