Amazon Prime Day Big Deals Deadline Extended to September 22 for Sellers

Amazon Prime Day Big Deals Deadline Extended to September 22 for Sellers

Most Amazon sellers think the window shut on September 8. With the Amazon Prime Day Big Deals deadline extended, they have until September 22 to submit deals and move stock.

Amazon has extended the deal sourcing window for Prime Big Deal Days to September 22, 2026. The move gives sellers 14 additional days past the original September 8 close, arriving after most industry coverage had already reported the window as closed.

The extension reopens a promotional lever many sellers had written off for October. Brands that missed the first deadline can still secure a Deal badge for the event that opens the Q4 shopping season.

Amazon Seller Central Confirms the Amazon Prime Day Big Deals Deadline Extended to September 22

Amazon disclosed the change in a September 8 update posted to Seller Central. The company presented the extension as added preparation time rather than a correction, and left the surrounding guidance unchanged.

Four promotion types remain eligible for the event. Sellers can submit Best Deals, Lightning Deals, Prime Exclusive Discounts, and coupons on qualifying selection, though eligibility and recommended pricing vary by ASIN and account.

One provision in the update carries significant financial weight. Amazon confirmed that promotional prices set during Prime Big Deal Days fall outside the 30-day and 60-day lookback used to calculate maximum deal prices for later events.

That resolves the Black Friday Week deal lookback window question in sellers’ favor. An aggressive October price does not raise the threshold a brand must clear to qualify for a November deal.

Amazon paired the extension with three further instructions. Sellers should move FBA inventory into fulfillment centers ahead of each event cutoff, use the traffic surge to clear products sitting past 90 days of supply or 180 days of age, and begin advertising before the event rather than on the day it opens.

Deal Fees and Early Submission Discounts Remain Unchanged

The extension registers as news largely because the original deadline received such wide coverage. Seller press reported through the first week of September that the window ran July 8 through September 8 and would close on schedule.

The fee structure survives the extension untouched. A September 7 breakdown of the deadline listed $100 upfront per promotion plus 1.5% of promotional sales, capped at $5,000.

The early submission discounts have already expired. The $50 savings window closed on August 5 for Prime Big Deal Days and September 5 for Black Friday and Cyber Monday, meaning deals submitted this week carry the full fee.

Two further details shape Prime Big Deal Days 2026 deal submission planning. Black Friday Week and Cyber Monday submissions remain open through October 20, and the lookback exclusion on October pricing appeared in Amazon’s holiday notice before the extension was announced.

Two Separate Gates Stand Between Sellers and a Deal Badge

Each Q4 event runs on two deadlines rather than one. A submission window determines whether an ASIN carries a Deal badge, while a receiving cutoff determines whether inventory exists to sell behind it.

Those gates do not close together. A published 2026 seller deadline calendar recorded the AWD cutoff on September 2 and the final FBA arrival deadline on September 16, leaving the inventory clock tighter than the deal clock even with the additional time.

A missing announcement compounds the planning problem. As of September 9, Amazon had not published consumer dates for the October event, yet three of its four seller gates had already passed.

Sellers should therefore plan against published deadlines rather than expected event dates. Any specific October dates circulating at this stage reflect last year’s pattern rather than an Amazon announcement.

Missing the Submission Window Removes the Deal Badge Entirely

A missed deal deadline eliminates options rather than simply raising costs. Once the submission window closes, the only remaining levers are organic pricing and coupons, and the Deal badge becomes unavailable for that event.

In our Amazon agency‘s experience across 400+ brands, the badge is the element sellers most often undervalue. It places an ASIN on the deals page during the hours when event traffic concentrates, and no level of bid aggression purchases equivalent placement.

A search behavior pattern is worth addressing alongside the submission itself. One 2026 event analysis noted that most shoppers do not search the official event name, instead looking for October Prime Day, fall Prime Day, or simply when Prime Day falls in October.

The Amazon Prime Day Big Deals deadline extended to September 22 gives sellers room to address that alongside their submissions. Listing copy and keyword targeting can be adjusted to cover those variants before traffic arrives.

October Shopper Data Shows What the Extra Window Is Worth

The case for pushing through this window rests on the shopper behind it. Numerator verified-buyer data compiled in a 2026 seller guide showed 90% of shoppers knew about the 2025 October event before they shopped, and 83% said it ranked among the main reasons they were on Amazon.

That audience arrives with purchase intent already formed. These events are decided in the weeks before they open rather than during the event itself, which is what makes the additional 14 days material.

The same research quantified the connection to November. Numerator found 61% of October shoppers planned to shop Black Friday and 58% planned to shop Cyber Monday, indicating that customers acquired in October largely become the retargeting pool for the November events.

Two cost factors sit against that opportunity. Holiday peak fulfillment fees begin October 15, 2026, averaging roughly $0.32 per unit above non-peak rates with a 3.5% fuel and logistics surcharge applied on top.

Sellers should model that stack into deal pricing before submitting. A promotion that penciled out against summer fee tables can turn unprofitable during the exact window in which it moves the most volume.

Discount depth matters alongside the fee math, with discounts of 20% or more roughly doubling purchase likelihood compared with shallower offers. Taken together, the two figures suggest thin-margin ASINs belong outside this event rather than at the center of it.
